He has worked at every level of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, giving him a complete understanding of how patrol, investigations, jail operations, emergency response, communications, and administration all work together.
Throughout his career, Don has been trusted to make critical decisions in high‑pressure situations. His leadership style is calm, steady, and grounded in experience—not driven by ego or headlines. “I’m running for Sheriff because Polk County needs consistent, reliable leadership focused on real results delivered year after year.
The Sheriff’s Office is entrusted with enormous responsibility: protecting families, supporting victims, managing emergencies, and overseeing a complex organization that operates 24/7. This role requires experience, judgment, and presence. I’m running because I already know the job, the people, and the responsibility that comes with it.
I’ve spent my career doing the work. I believe the best way to earn trust is by showing up, being accountable, and being honest about what can and cannot be done. Polk County deserves a Sheriff it can count on when things go wrong, not someone learning on the job.”
