Don’s Priorities

Priorities for a Safer, Stronger Community

  • Don has been part of a Mental Health Consortium to bring awareness to state legislatures of the lack of mental health services in northern Wisconsin. Don knows we need to dedicate more resources and find new initiatives for the citizens that need mental health services.  

    Don knows firsthand the problems drugs cause in our homes and communities. Don has been part of a multicounty drug task force focused on keeping drugs out of our counties. Don also understands that enforcement is not the only answer to our drug problems and believes we need more programs aimed at reducing drug dependency.

  • Don Burrows is committed to building strong partnerships that keep our communities safe. He will work closely with local organizations, Lake Associations, and ATV/UTV groups to promote responsible recreation and safety. Through community events and safety presentations, Don will strengthen trust and collaboration.

  • Protecting our children is a top priority. Don will continue working with school districts to enhance security, support School Resource Officers, and utilize Safety Mapping Grants to ensure every school is prepared for emergencies.

  • Don plans to improve jail programs to address mental health needs and reduce repeat offenses. By partnering with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, Don will increase participation and completion of rehabilitation programs.

  • Don knows how to do more with less. He will seek grants and innovative solutions to improve programs without increasing costs, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely.

  • Don has strengthened the emergency communications by securing grants, adding tower sites, and expanding staffing where needed. He will continue to adapt and improve technology to keep first responders effective and responsive.

  • Don leads by example—always stepping up to get the job done. He will increase communication through social media and press releases, keeping the public informed and engaged.
